Absolutely. Local band Those Mockingbirds seem to be popping up everywhere recently from online interviews to winning MTVU’s “The Freshmen,” and having their single, “How to Rob a Bank,” featured. Those Mockingbirds consists of Adam Bird, Tory Anne Daines, Kevin Walters, Rob Fitzgerald, & Jon Gianino. The 5 piece rock band started off handing out stickers and walking around malls with an MP3 player for kids to listen to around 2010. When I was 14, Adam Bird, lead singer and guitar player, came up to my friend and I and, as new as he was into the band, he was ecstatic. He handed us a pile of stickers and gave each of us a headphone to listen to their newest recorded song and then gave us a hard copy of the single titled “Honest?Honest.” Since then, I was hooked. Always looking for updates and waiting for Adam to message me any news about the band, I followed them and up until this day, I still do-about four years later. Watching Those Mockingbirds develop into the band they are today has been amazing and so sincere, it’s as if the fans have grown with them. I have met every member at least once and know one of them on a personal level and can definitely say they never let the fans and fame get to their heads. It is truly a beautiful thing. As a violinist myself, I always loved the fact that Those Mockingbirds feature the violin as a main instrument. Tory is a fantastic and I love listening to her play and watching her live. She is elegant, yet edgy, and every note seamlessly flows through her. Along with her sweet voice, Tory definitely adds grace to the alt. rock band and that’s what makes TMBirds just that much different than most local bands. Confidence and perseverance seem to be a huge variable in their success on top of their talent and every band needs to look up to this small group of talented individuals if they want to excel beyond any competitors.
Below, I have attached their sound cloud, where a couple of songs are available for free download. I suggest you buy the songs off of iTunes for support because they absolutely deserve it for all of their hard work. Stay posted for an interview, keep rocking out and go hang out at their show at Spike Hill in Brooklyn, NY on 2/22 at 7PM!
